It began in 1835 as a Methodist revival camp, with attendees first sleeping in tents, then gradually replacing them with the ornate wooden cottages that stand today. Over 300 of these gingerbread-style Victorian cottages remain, each painted in bright, distinctive colors with elaborate carved trim and tiny front porches barely big enough for two chairs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal leading-[1.7]\"\u003eAt the center of the campground stands the Trinity Park Tabernacle, an open-air wrought iron structure built in 1879 that still hosts community events every summer.
